Just a reminder, if you've got young-at-heart readers in your life who love funny ghost stories. 😊
A graphic noting that my books--BENNY RAMÍREZ AND THE NEARLY DEPARTED and AJ TORRES AND THE TREASURE OF CAPTAIN GRAYSHARK--are middle grade reads that are perfect for both Hispanic Heritage Month and Spooky Season.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion. As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

I spent a few days in Los Angeles for a family event and a bit of tourism. Visited The Last Bookstore in downtown LA for some very fun browsing.
A wide shot inside The Last Bookstore, taken from the second floor balcony, looking down on an open space full of bookshelves. The room is also full of huge columns, and the ceiling is intricately decorated. The space used to be an old bank!
A tunnel made out of books that form a curved arch. The walls and ceiling have fancy panels painted red, black, and gold.
Inside the book tunnel, lit with string lights.
Me smiling through a round hole made out of books inside one of the bookshelves.

I am so mad but focusing on doing what I can right now. Which is donating to @runforsomething.net to put progressives in office, confirming my vote on CA 50, and supporting independent journalism. Then I'm going to watch the Sharks opening night. And not let That Fucking Guy take that away from me.

I was wondering what happened to the preorder I was expecting, and then I looked at the pub date again and realized it's coming out a year from now! 😭 But you, too, can preorder a lovely gift for your far future self who will frankly probably need a Le Guin tribute anthology even more by then.

@yumewrites.bsky.social's SALTCROP is a fantastic book of hopeful dystopia. Equal parts ecological thriller and intimate portrait of a family. Seaspray and corporate treachery, a beloved boat named Bumblebee, all the ways family accidentally defines us. I couldn't put it down. Out 9/30

Clouds in the bright blue sky above treetops. The lower clouds are iconically puffy. Higher up, they form a thin layer of clumps and streaks.
